Oil Pulling

Hi lovebugs!!! This post is a little different from my usual topic. You won't see my face for a change. =)) But it is still one of my beauty routines. Some of you may know that I like to use natural home remedies (e.g., baking soda and apple cider vinegar for my hair and scalp). In this post we are going to talk about Oil Pulling. What is it? What are the benefits? :-?

Oil Pulling, also known as kavala graha (swished) or snigda gandoosha (held) in the mouth is an Ancient dental technique.

So this supposed to improve your oral health and overall health. Some of the listed benefits are whiter teeth and better breath (especially in the morning). Also a benefit in conditions like headaches, migraines, asthma and sleeping problems. Apparently this procedure pulls out the toxins out of your body.

I don't quite remember how I found out about Oil Pulling, but I was interested so I did my research. I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now. I'm not really sure if my teeth are whiter than before, but this stuff sure does work for headaches (hangovers! :-& my new savior!) and migraines. I haven't taken any aspirin for migraines since. I also have asthma, but I've been good. :D

Dental professionals say this shouldn't replace your regular dental visit and traditional at-home oral care. Read more here

HOW TO OIL PULL?

  • Pick your oil. I picked coconut oil. Because I like the taste of it. :P And make sure it's organic.
  • Put about a tablespoon of oil in your mouth.
  • Swish it around for 20 minutes. No need to do it too hard. Remember you will be swishing for 20 minutes. DON'T SWALLOW! I usually do this in the morning when I'm getting ready.
  • Spit it out in the trash. Why in the trash? Because you don't want to clog your sink when it solidify. Gargle with warm water. Brush your teeth!

That's it! Give it a try. Nothing to lose right? And let me know how it worked for you. :)
